CALLS have been made from several groups to have the Town Bridge cleaned whilst structural work is carried out at the start of next year.
Melksham Town Council, Melksham Trust and the Town Development Committee have made a joint request to Wiltshire Council to give the bridge a clean in January when work will be carried out on the Grade II Listed structure.
Richard Wiltshire from Melksham Trust said, “over the years it has accumulated much traffic grime and probably road salt, no one can say when it was last cleaned. The Trust would like to see the bridge cleaned as part of these maintenance works. Melksham Town Council Town Development Committee also support cleaning to restore the elegance of the structure.”
