THE caretakers of Melksham’s new mini country park, Shurnhold Fields, are appealing for donations of plants and trees.
The Friends of Shurnhold Fields are preparing for the grand opening of the park, which is located on the site of the former George Ward School playing fields – and they want the community to get involved.
Chair of the group, Paul Carter, who is also a parish councillor said, “The creation of Shurnhold Fields as a country park is moving forward to be completed by April 23rd 2021. The project is jointly funded by the taxpayers from the two councils for Melksham, so it’s your park, please do pop down and have a look especially in the spring.
“To that end, if any of you have any spare flowers or trees and would like to donate them to the fields please ring me on 01225 703 223.
“Many residents and groups have already kindly donated trees and plants, however, we still have room for more.
“The Friends of Shurnhold Fields volunteers enthusiastically look after the fields and if you feel you would like to volunteer too please ring me for a warm welcome.”
