The children of Seend C. of E. Primary School recently came to school for the day dressed as someone carrying out a job.
“There was a real variety of outfits including doctors, police, artists and even a spy!” explained head teacher Mrs Chalk.
“The idea behind the day was to open the children’s eyes to the variety of jobs there are out there.
“We arranged various visitors to come into school to talk about their jobs including an editor, a vet and a trading standards officer. As well as explaining what their job entailed they were able to reinforce the importance of the range of skills we try to teach the children from reading, writing and maths, to perseverance and team work.”
“Other visitors included the police, the fire service (along with engine!) and an accountant.
“It was a really educational and fun day which has hopefully given the children some food for thought. I know for definite that one child at least was checking the dates on the food at the supermarket after the talk by Trading Standards.”
