Over £1,100 was raised for the RUH Forever Friends Appeal at Cleeve House on Saturday 26th October. Local women, Sara Land and Miriam Zaccarelli, teamed up to organise two events in one day as a fundraiser for the Helena Ward at Bath Royal United Hospital.
They say, “In the afternoon a charity market took place, with stalls, games, pumpkin carving and apple bobbing, as well as an abundance of tea and cake made by several local people. Hundreds of people braved the rain to support the event, which was opened ceremoniously by Melksham Town Crier, and attended by Melksham Carnival royalty.
“The evening event was an autumn party with live music from Kirsty Clinch and the Triple JD band, with a fabulous spread of delicious food donated by Sweetpea Catering. Over £300 was raised by the raffle alone, with incredibly generous prizes donated by local companies.”
Sara Land said, ‘We are so pleased with everyone’s generosity. The Helena Ward at the RUH is close to our hearts and we are so grateful to everyone who came out to support it. A special thanks goes to Sweetpea Caterers, and for raffle prizes, Meads of Melksham, Gompels, Dazzling Windows, Boomerang play centre, Lowden Garden Centre, Asda, JL Events, Melksham Assembly Hall, Marrison Millinery, Cresswell Engineering, Edinborough Wooden Mill and all stall holders who donated.”
Miriam Zaccarelli said, “It was a lovely opportunity to use Cleeve House to do something for such a great charity. People in the Melksham area are really generous and it was wonderful to see all the different ways people came together to make it happen, offering skills and time, by baking cakes, donating raffle prizes, arranging car parking, decorating the venue, performing amazing music or preparing a room full of pumpkins to carve!”
Maddy Jones, fundraiser at the RUH said, “I want to say a huge thank you on behalf of The Forever Friends Appeal for choosing Helena Ward to benefit from your fundraising. We really couldn’t do it without supporters like you.”
