THIRTY new flats could be approved for Spa Road later this year, after developers submitted a planning application for the complex at the beginning of this month.
The plans for sheltered housing on the 0.35 hectare land next to Withleigh House were first revealed to the public during an exhibition in April this year.
If the application is approved by Wiltshire Council, developers McCarthy and Stone plan to build 13 one-bed and 17 two-bed apartments, plus 23 car parking spaces and associated landscaping and access work.
The apartments will be built specifically for elderly people – the minimum age for a householder is 60. The average age of McCarthy and Stone residents in the South West is 78.
Comments on the proposal are being welcomed until Friday 3rd July. You can write to Wiltshire Council by searching planning application 15/05079/ FUL on www.wiltshire. gov.uk, or by writing to Development Management, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN.
