Melksham Community Meals hosted a free Valentines’s lunch to celebrate its first anniversary and its new home at Spencer Sports and Social club on Friday 14th February.
Organiser Sue Mortimer said, “We catered for 80 guests, which was our maximum, so apologies to those who we had to turn away. The meal was a great success, with everyone enjoying the food and the social get-together.
“Guests were especially delighted to receive a Valentine’s card, which were made by the children of River Mead School Melksham, so a big thank you goes to the children and teachers of the school for that.
“Thank you also to Elvy and Sue, the cooks, for all their hard work on the day and the amazing volunteers who without their help, the day would not have happened. A big thank you to Asda Melksham for donating an amazing amount of food towards the meal.
“At the request of guests, donation were made on the day, which more than covered the remaining costs of the event. This meant with the excess donations, Melksham Community Meals was able to provide a food box to Melksham Food Bank for a family for a week. So thank you everyone for your generosity.”
