MELKSHAM & District Link scheme needs help and is looking for volunteers to join its team.
Chairman Liz Rowley said, “Following the success of our appeal for drivers in earlier editions of the Melksham News we are now looking for volunteers to assist us with our administration tasks.
“Melksham Link is a vital service in our community offering lifts to medical appointments for people who otherwise could not easily access their appointments. We do local trips to doctors, dentists and opticians and go to hospitals in Bath, Bristol, Swindon and further afield.
“We are always looking for new drivers but currently are in particular need of coordinators to answer the phone and liaise between our clients and our volunteer drivers to organise the trips. We provide a laptop and phone and you would carry out the role in your own home for two days every four or five weeks. You would be part of a team on a rota basis but with lots of flexibility. Training is given and you would be fully supported at all times.
“We also need someone to help with general admin tasks involved in recruitment of volunteers, for just a few hours each month. “Again, it’s totally flexible in terms of commitment. All you need is basic IT skills, a nice telephone manner, empathy and to be well organised.
“Volunteering to help in your local community is so rewarding and we’d love to hear from you.
