CHRISTMAS messages from the Mayor of Melksham and the chair of Melksham Without Parish Council, have spoken of the value of community and the incredible work being done in this unprecedented year of Covid-19.
Mayor of Melksham, cllr Pat Aves said, “The difficulties and hardships that many of us have faced this year have at times seemed insurmountable, but in every dark cloud, there is always a silver lining.” She said that so many people had reached out to help others this year.
Melksham Without Parish Council chair, cllr Richard Wood said, “The Melksham area owes a huge debt of gratitude to all those who have helped out with the Melksham Community Response scheme since March”
Cllr Aves added, “The incredible efforts of our community volunteers, the local shops and businesses, care homes and the many small organisations of the town have all looked after us so well in this unprecedented year.”
With the start of the roll-out of vaccines taking place, both leaders said they looked forward to the new year with optimism.
Cllr Wood said, “Looking to the future, which this year more than most is a good thing to do, I’d like to wish you all a happy and prosperous new year in which we can all return to normality, safely visit our family and friends and get on with our lives.”
Cllr Aves said, “Please remember to adhere to published government guidance, have a lovely, safe Christmas, and see you all in 2021!”
