THE town centre’s floral displays have been kept blooming thanks to the hard work of town council staff.
Speaking to Melksham News, groundsman Richard Collett said, “We have approximately 100 baskets, 14 troughs and 35 lamp post displays to take care of, which is quite a lot for a small town! And on top of that, we have the three main bedding areas in the town – Market Place, War Memorial and the Queen Mary gardens.
“Between the two of us – Nigel does the top end of town and I do the bottom – it can take several hours to water all the flowers in the town – and we do that three times a week.
“The display enhances the town and helps bring people to town, which helps local businesses – especially the roundabout, which has earned a reputation for itself – it’s a real accolade for the town.
“We hope it all cheers people up and brightens their day, literally!”
