LOCAL police say that recent good weather has caused a rise in demand for their services.
“The improving weather over the last week has proven to be a real catalyst for our demand,” reports Police Sergeant James Twyford. “The last fortnight (7th – 20th March) has meant 46 crimes and a further 54 incidents. Chief amongst these are 26 offences of violence against the person; of which 7 involved an injury.
“We dealt with 6 instances of damage and a further 6 theft offences. 29 of the incidents involved the same 9 people, which provides the Neighbourhood Team with some focus for the upcoming fortnight.
“We have said goodbye to PCSO David Rowley, who’s been a part of the team for Melksham Town for the last 12 months. He will return as PC David Rowley in the near future, having recently accepted a post in this new and challenging role.
“The Town Centre Team now consists of Sgt James Twyford, PC Alan Paterson; PC Jen Miller and PCSO Luke Hosken.”
