CUBS from across the district took part in the annual Chess Tournament held last month at Melksham Scout HQ.
At the event, 25 cubs from seven packs in the district played six games each. All the cubs that took part gained their Hobbies Activity Badge.
At the end of a very competitive and close-run competition, the District Shield was won by 1st Bowerhill Cub Xavier Pennant.
Three cubs tied for 2nd place – Oliver Richter from Melksham ‘Slindon’ , George Clark from Broughton Gifford & Holt and Samuel Croft from 1st Hilperton ‘Harriers’.
The winner and runners up all re- ceived a medal and all participants received a certificate.
The event was organised by district commissioner Chris Broom who was assisted by several leaders and parents. The day was hailed a great success and enjoyed by everyone.
