The Steering Group set up to produce a Neighbourhood Plan with support from Melksham Town and Melksham Parish Councils and local community groups is inviting budding local artists to take part in a ‘Design a Logo’ competition.
The competition is open to everyone, irrespective of age or artistic ability.
Your design should aim to show what you think Melksham and its surrounding area should be like as a great place to live, work and visit.
A shortlist of the best designs will be selected by the Steering Group and will be displayed at a drop-in event to be held at the assembly hall on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March, when local people will be able to vote for their favourite design.
The winning design will replace the temporary logo and will be used on future publicity materials.
Designs, on an A4 sheet of paper, can be posted at the Town Hall, the TIC, the library, the Tesco Express in Bowerhill, the Whitley Stores in Top Lane, or emailed directly to the Steering Group. For further details of how to take part, please email the group on mnpsg@mail.com
The Neighbourhood Plan gives local people their chance to influence and shape the future development of the Melksham area over the coming years. The Plan is not just about new houses, it also covers provision of health facilities and local schools, your employment opportunities, local shops, your access to leisure facilities, local bus and rail services, maintaining local roads and managing the traffic.
Steering Group Chair, Richard Wood said, “We still want to hear what local people think should be the main priorities for the Melksham Neighbourhood Plan. We are already receiving plenty of ideas, which we will consider at our meeting on Wednesday 28th January to plan the next steps – so your views are very important to inform our decisions.”
It is still not too late for local people to say what the priorities should be. To share your views, please go to www.myenvolve.com/project/mnpsg2015 or www.surveymonkey.com/r/mnplan
