TWO Whitley residents will next month attempt to complete a 700-mile route across Scotland in a ‘banger’ car to raise money for charity.
Nick Burton and Dave Hiscock are taking part in the four-day event, the Two Ball Rally TBR700, in a car worth no more than £567.
Money raised by the challenge will be donated to Dorothy House Hospice Care and the British Heart Foundation – the duo have set themselves a fundraising target of £2,500.
“We have been trying to do this event over the past eighteen months, but due to Covid it kept being cancelled,” said Nick. “We have to buy a car for less than £567, and one of the fun things to do on an event like this is to have a theme for the car!
“It is a bright yellow MG ZR, so after much deliberation with family and friends we have decided to call the team ‘Despicable MG’ from the Despicable Me films – the car is now decorated in the Minions theme.
“Our thanks too must go to family and friends who are supporting us in many ways and especially to my daughter Amy Fletcher who made all the Minion stickers you see on the car!”
