Tickets are on sale for a Melksham drama group’s latest pantomime, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, which is coming to the stage in February.
Written by Bradford and Webster, Melksham Music and Drama will perform the story of Belle and her mean older sisters, Chardonnay and Lambrini and their impoverished mother, Madame Dolores Lilly Chantilly Tres Jolie (or Dolly Jolly), who is keen to marry them off to rich husbands.
Organisers say, “The vain and egotistical Jean-Claude and the spoiled but good-natured Prince Louis both have their eye on Belle. Chardonnay and Lambrini want Jean-Claude for themselves and continually try to outdo each other, to get him to notice them. Meanwhile, the evil Countess Cruella is obsessed with Prince Louis and, in a jealous rage, she turns him into a hideous beast. But who will save the day and prevent Jean-Claude and his mob from killing the Beast?
“With all the traditional characters of a pantomime, great songs and dances and a hilarious script that will keep you laughing throughout.”
First-time director, Jake Clifford and co-director Joeanne Londors said, “Rehearsals are going well and our cast is very enthusiastic with the script, choreography and songs.”
The show will be performed at the Rachel Fowler Centre on 13th, 14th, 19th, 20th and 21st February. Evening performances start at 7.30pm with matinees on both Saturdays starting at 2.30pm. Doors will open half an hour before the show starts.
Tickets are now on sale at £9 per adult and £7 per children/ concessions. These can be purchased on the TicketSource website https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/mmad/ or at the Melksham Tourist Information Centre.
