IT was the end of an era at The Fisheries last month, as the Edney family moved on to pastures new.
Since 1968, the popular fish and chip shop on Union Street has been under the ownership of the Edney family – first, couple John and Kath, who came to Melksham in 1968 after running chip shops in Bristol, Chepstow and Bridgwater.
And then John and Kath’s son Dale and his wife Louise, who took over the chip shop when the couple retired.
Speaking to Melksham News, Dale said, “Louise and I are going to take some time out and take it easy. We have no plans at all, we will just wait and see what the next chapter brings us.
“We would like to thank all our customers for their support and all the fantastic staff we have had over the years!
“Best wishes to new owners James and Sara, and our former employee Jay, who is continuing to work with them.”
