Friends of St George’s School in Semington and DB Max are teaming up, along with the village community, to organise an exciting running event for everyone.
The 10K circular race called ‘The Semington Slog’ starts at St George’s School, and offers runners the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque village location next to the canal towpath.
The race will commence at 10.00am on Saturday 9th May following an initial safety briefing. Race organiser John Adams said, “It will be a great event and we have already had plenty of interest from those wanting to enter and enjoy a fantastic 10k route through charming scenery.”
A George and the Dragon Fun Run is also organised for all children, and race organisers will be looking for impressive George, Dragon or Princess costumes. Entry for the fun run will be on the day. The event hopes to raise funds for the school’s allweather path and sensory activity project which will benefit the school as well as the local community and groups that use it.
Headteacher Gordon Campbell said, “This is a very exciting fundraising project bringing all members of the school community together.
“The new path will enable our children to have more space to play in and also engage in a wider range of break and lunchtime activities. They will have access to the field all year round rather than just during the warm/dry weather seasons. The field is also used by the village community and the new path will enable better access for all, especially disabled users.”
