MELKSHAM Flower Club has presented a cheque for £500 to Young Carers, Wiltshire.
They were the club’s chosen charity for 2014 and the money was raised from an open meeting and a vintage afternoon tea party where the members all learnt about chocolate. The practice class was taken by Christine Oughton and members produced a ‘floral cake’ and the speaker was Margaret Walker – Everything Stops for Tea. The afternoon was rounded off with a tea party of their own.
The cheque was handed over by deputy chairman Caroline Christopher and Sue Spurrier to Alan Burke the project worker for Young Carers, Wiltshire.
Melksham Flower Club’s next meeting is Tuesday 17 February with David Martin from Swindon with his demonstration ’let me entertain you!.’ The event starts at 2pm at Spencers Sports and Social Club, Beanacre Road, Melksham. Contact Rosalyn on 01225 700214 for further information.
