FROM early September Melksham’s Vaccination Programme will be starting their Flu/Covid booster programme.
On behalf of the programme, Dr Abby Burgess, Covid vaccination programme lead for Melksham and BoA PCN has said, “Melksham and Bradford on Avon PCN continue to deliver vaccinations at Spencers to our local population and beyond. 89% of all eligible patients have now been single or double vaccinated in our community which is fantastic.
“Government guidance now advises certain younger groups to receive a Covid vaccination.
“If you are 16-17 years of age, please attend one of our walk-in clinics to receive your vaccination. Please look on social media/practice websites for clinic details. Current guidance is you only need a single vaccination. If you are 17+9m you will receive 2 vaccine doses 8 weeks apart.
“If you are 12-15 years of age and extremely clinically vulnerable or live with somebody who is immunosuppressed your GP surgery will be in touch to advise you about getting a vaccination. We will be starting our Flu/Covid booster programme in early September. You will be contacted by our PCN Vaccination call handler team to book your appointment to receive these vaccinations at the same appointment.
“Please do not phone your practice as they will not be able to book this appointment for you. We have not yet received government guidance on exactly who will be eligible for the booster so we will contact patients as soon as possible when the detail is confirmed
“We are so grateful to all our clinical and non-clinical staff and volunteers who continue to work so hard in such a committed and professional way. Thanks also to Spencers for continuing to host us.
“If you have not had your first or second dose, you are pregnant or aged 16-17 please come forward for your vaccine so we can all stay as safe as we can and support the return to normality.”
