At the recent meeting of the Melksham Food Festival the committee was sad to learn of the resignation of the Chair, Pam Wiltshire.
Pam has been the chair of this organisation since it started six years ago, however she felt that the time had come to pass the mantel on to someone else.
Former Mayor of Melksham Adrienne Westbrook will take over from Pam, and she is delighted to be chairing such an enthusiastic group of people, and thanked Pam for helping to make the festival such a success.
The committee showed their appreciation of Pam’s work by presenting her with some theatre vouchers for her to enjoy a well deserved night out.
Adrienne reported, “This year the Food Festival will join with the River Festival for a super day on Sunday 6th September. Due to the campus project there will be a new venue this year, King George V playing field will be our venue.”
The Food Festival has become an important part of the Melksham calendar with well over 3,000 people attending last year’s event.
The 1st River Festival was very successful last year and talks were held between the two committees to join together this year to create a great day out for Melksham residents, and to showcase this area to visitors to the town.
The food festival will continue showcasing local food producers with lots of stalls where food can be bought and tasted. Local bands will also be entertaining visitors.
The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust will be running boat trips on the river as well as organising lots of activities on the River Avon.
Adrienne closed, by saying, “The two committees are working well together to produce a fantastic day.”
