FOREST AFC has appointed a new manager following the sudden death of Stephen Wakefield in October last year.
Club chairman Ben Johnson said, “I have appointed Sam Kettle as manager who has agreed to take over until the end of the season. He’s a very nice man who used to play for us but then had a big injury and so he had to stop playing.
“He then went on to do his coaching badges. When he completed the first badge we lost Wacca, so it made sense to appoint him. Since he has come in we have worked very hard to get good results but they have been hard to come across.
“I am in the process of putting up our tributes to Wacca in the changing room but that should be done within a few weeks. We’re still planning to do the Wacca Cup at the end of the season to raise some funds to help keep the club going.
“The club and Wacca’s partner Alice still keep in contact and she will be attending our awards night at the end of the season.
“The boys continue to work hard to get results. It is clear we all miss Wacca and all he has done for us. It’s about trying to do him proud.”
