MELKSHAM football club Forest AFC will be donating their old kit to a charity scheme run by the FA for kit to be taken to Africa.
The club is donating the kit through the ‘Taking Football to Africa and Beyond’ appeal, run by the Football Association and the RAF.
Club chairman Ben Johnson said, “Our sponsors have bought the team a new kit for the next season, so we don’t need this one. Rather than the shirts kicking around our dressing room or being thrown away, we thought it’d be better to donate them.
“They’re still in good condition and should be worn and played in, not kept away in a box. Our former manager, ‘Wacker’ had mentioned before he died that he wanted to do it, so we’re seeing it through for him.”
Forest AFC play at the Forest Community Centre, and will be holding a special friendly on Saturday 21st May in memory of their late manager, Stephen Wakefield.
