FOREST Community Centre is celebrating its second anniversary on Saturday 1st August and is inviting everyone to join them for their Summer Fayre and Car Boot.
In 1993, the residents of the Forest area voiced their views that what the area needed was a community centre. So after many years of setbacks, in August 2013, the hardworking team of volunteers finally opened the doors of the Forest Community Centre to the public.
Vic Oakman, chairman of the community centre said, “It has been a fantastic couple of years and a great success for the community; much better than we ever thought it would be.
“We are celebrating with a big party and hope everyone comes along. It starts at 11.00am and will be a packed day of fun for all. There will be a raffle, a barbecue, charity stalls, bouncy castle and lots more. Also there will be live entertainment from Pete Lamb’s Heartbeats. They are an excellent family band and we’re really looking forward to them playing.
“Last year’s event was packed, so it would great if this year’s was the same. Hopefully the weather will be nice!”
