MEMBERS of Melksham Probus Club met at The Kings Arms, their monthly venue, on 5th November, where they enjoyed a good lunch and the opportunity to meet together.
The speaker this month was Mrs Penny Tranter, who for 30 years was a presenter on the BBC weather forecast team. She gave a wonderful explanation about the Meteorological Office explaining its history from its conception in 1854 by Admiral Beaufort to the new headquarters established at Exeter in 2003. This establishment now covers weather movement throughout the world and places the United Kingdom at the forefront of weather forecasting.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd December. We are always looking for new members to join the Melksham Probus Club and would welcome your interest.
