FORMER Melksham Oak Community School pupil Christopher Satchell has become the Bristol and District U18 Junior Table Tennis champion.
Christopher came out on top at the annual championships held at the SGS college WISE campus on Sunday 2nd February.
This was Chris Satchell’s first tournament victory and is a prestigious title, as Bristol is the second largest table tennis league in the UK. Winning the title represents a big jump in standard for the 17 year old.
After joining the table tennis academy at SGS College Bristol in September he has improved in standard as a result of the daily coaching and training programme at the college sports academy.
Chris defeated Jack Brent in the final 3-1 and knocked out No 1 seed Calum Parkins in the semi final in a closely contested 3-0 victory.
Chris, after his victory said, “This was a tough event.
“There were five or six players who could have won on the day and I am really pleased that things went my way.”
