Thanks to a donation from Medvivo, Melksham Seniors are now able to offer the over 55s an afternoon at the pictures free of charge at the Assembly Hall.
Organiser Brian Warwick says, “It will coincide with the seniors’ film club on Monday 21st September proceeded by a short AGM of your Senior Forum to elect officers for 2015/6. Approve of the accounts and the election of our Older People’s Champion for Melksham will also take place, which will then require approval and ratification by the Melksham Area Board.
“The film chosen by the seniors is the much requested fun classic ‘The Full Monty’, which many people say they want to see again. Please note, our film in October will be on Wednesday the 28th October and not the normal third Monday, due to the Assembly Hall not being available.
“We are showing the hilarious film with Helen Mirren “The Hundred Foot Journey”. A story centred on an Indian family who move to France and open a restaurant across the street from a Michelin-starred French restaurant.
“There is great deal still in the pipeline to discuss around our winter and Christmas programme, so do make a special effort to come along on the 21st September at 1.15pm at Melksham Assembly Hall, do put a special note in your diaries.
“Those seniors attending the September and October events will also be able to pre-register for tickets for the very popular Christmas Party.
“On Monday the 5th October will be the monthly meeting of the Seniors Monday Club with lots of fun and games and a good sing-along. Starting at 1.30pm, community transport can be arranged via Melksham Tourist Information Centre 01225 707424.
“Remember the Senior Forum 55+ is run by seniors for seniors for your enjoyment and to help improve our quality of life, so please do let’s have your full support. I look forward to seeing many more of you on the 21st September.”
