THE popular Sports Activity Days will return to King George V Park this summer and this year will take place three days a week.
Melksham Town Council will again be providing free weekly activities for children over the summer holidays.
Deputy clerk, Clare Harris said, “The feedback from previous years has been brilliant and the public have been very positive about it, with parents saying how great it is to have free activities for families in the town.
“This summer the activities include tennis, five-a-side football, netball, dodgeball and a bouncy castle, and will run from 11.30am to 2.30pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 24th July to 25th August.
“Whilst the activities will be supervised, parents are ultimately responsible for their children. We are encouraging parents to bring a picnic, enjoy the park and let their children have fun in the sun.”
Councillor Terri Welch said, “Last year, myself and cllr Westbrook went along to most of the sports days and they were a brilliant success.
“I’m delighted that we are running the days again, but this time three times a week.”
Mayor of Melksham, cllr Westbrook said, “Last year it was fabulous – there were 150-200 children with families who came along. It was wonderful.”
