CHILDREN can swim for free this summer at Melksham Blue Pool.
Wiltshire Council is continuing to fund free swimming during school holidays for children aged up to 16, at Wiltshire Council and DC Leisure managed leisure centres.
The free sessions are now on offer and run until Monday 25th August. Last year more than 58,800 free sessions were taken across the county during the summer. As the sessions are very popular, people are advised to arrive in plenty of time.
Cabinet member for leisure, cllr Jonathon Seed said, “We hope as many children as possible take up this opportunity and enjoy free swimming this summer as part of their holiday activities. This is part of our Legacy for Wiltshire, which aims to encourage people to keep active and healthy, so offering free swimming provides an added incentive to exercise while having fun.”
Those under 16 will be able to gain free access to all public swimming sessions during the Wiltshire Council recognised school holidays, however each leisure centre will retain the right to request proof of age before granting entry.
