Alzheimer’s Support is running a free training course in Melksham for family and friends who are caring for someone with dementia at home.
They say, “As well as being an invaluable insight into the condition and the changes it may bring, it is a good way to connect with others in similar circumstances.
“The seven-week course runs on Monday mornings from 25th March and is aimed at those who are new to the caring role or to people who have been caring for some time, but have not yet had the opportunity to take part.
“The two-hour sessions are led by experts in their field. However the delivery is informal and there is plenty of time for questions and a chance to relax over coffee. Topics include: What is dementia, Managing problems at home, Safer moving and assisting, Financial and legal aspects of caring, How carers can take care of themselves, Care at home and How to evaluate a care home, Communication skills.
“Our next courses will be at: Melksham Assembly Hall, Monday mornings from 25th March until 20th May (with breaks on the Bank Holidays.)”
The courses are facilitated by our community services coordinator Kate Sharpe. Please email Kate or call her on 01380 739055 to find out more and to book your place by phone.
