MELKSHAM could soon be part of the worldwide parkrun community, thanks to enthusiasm from local people and offers to help.
Colin Goodhind, chair of Melksham Community Area Partnership said, “We’ve had over 50 enthusiastic responses from people, including several offers of help so it’s all systems go!
“We’re now in the process of applying for start-up funding from the Melksham Area Board and Melksham Town and Melksham Without Parish Councils.
“Parkrun will be set up to a proven formula and we’ll be involving people with parkrun experience to help get Melksham on the worldwide parkrun ‘map’ to provide a free and safe weekly event open to anyone wanting to get or keep fit at their own pace; even with a dog, child or a pushchair!
“Anyone interested and hasn’t already done so, please confirm your interest to melkshamparkrun@gmail.com or via the Town Hall.
If you don’t know what parkrun is all about then go to www.parkrun.org.uk or if you want to see details of the nearest run at the moment then go to www.parkrun.org.uk/southwickcountrypark Hopefully Melksham parkrun will become a reality before the end of the summer!”
