SEEND Lye Recreation Field is celebrating a £50,000 funding boost from SUEZ Communities Trust for their Carbon Challenge 2023 project.
Next year, 12th May 2023, will see the village’s Irene Usher Memorial Pavilion celebrate its 50th anniversary and the project will future-proof this valuable community facility for the next 50 years. The funding will allow for building maintenance and improvements to take place and see phased works to improve the user experience and energy efficiency.
Chairman and trustee of the Seend Lye Recreation Field, Ric Ellinger, said, “This generous grant will kick-start the initiative to ensure our pavilion building remains sustainable well into the end of this century.”
Steve Vaux, the committee member leading the project said, “The refurbishment work will continue to the end of this year with further work in 2023 providing renewable heating and electric vehicle charging points.
“This work will not affect the 2022 Seend Fete, which will be held as usual on Saturday 13th August.”
Chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust, Marek Gordon, added, “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Landfill Communities Fund. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Seend Lye Recreation Field.
