Seend Lye Recreation Field is celebrating a £49,079.00 funding boost from SUEZ Communities Trust for playground redevelopment.
“Seend Lye Recreation Field (SLRF) has provided children’s play facilities since the demise of Devizes Urban District Council, circa the 1970s. From that time, SLRF assumed responsibility for play equipment in public use. Old council equipment was augmented with timber equipment for under 12-year-olds; this has reached the end of its life. Funding will provide new equipment that is inclusive of all child play. The project has unanimous community support.”
Steven Vaux of the Seend Lye Recreation Field, who is leading the project said, “This generous grant from Suez Communities Trust couldn’t have come at a better time. Our children’s play area is a valued rural facility which is important for child development. The new equipment will serve the children of Seend and surrounding communities well into the next 20 years.”
Marek Gordon, chairman of the Trust added, “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.4billion. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Seend Lye Recreation Field.”
