MAKE a difference and raise cash for charity, simply by drinking coffee and eating cake this Friday and Saturday.
Macmillan Cancer Support is hosting its ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ with fundraisers around the country serving up coffee and tea and cake, all in aid of the charity. In 2013, many businesses and groups in Melksham joined in the effort as they were among the 154,000 people nationwide that signed up to the coffee morning, raising a record £20.5million.
This year is due to be even bigger and many coffee mornings are being held across Melksham and surrounding villages to support the event. These include:
Friday 26th September
Forest & Sandridge School, 9am-10.30am: A coffee morning for parents. All classes will be making cakes and year six children will be running a coffee shop.
Melksham Baptist Church, Old Broughton Road 10am-12noon: Are hosting a coffee morning with a bring and buy cake stall for MacMillan Cancer Support. Bring your family and friends.
Seend Community Centre, 10am-12noon: As well as coffee, tea and cakes there will be a bring and buy stall, raffle and games and, most importantly, an opportunity to chat! The community centre have raised around £1,400 over the last three years for Macmillan and hope to make another several hundred pounds at this event.
Saturday 27th September
St. Barnabas Church, Beanacre, 10am-1pm: In the Schoolroom a cake stall will be on offer for those joining in the coffee morning. Entry is £2 and includes a coffee.
Semington Village Hall, 10.30am-12.30pm: Coffee, cakes and raffle prizes will be on offer. Anyone wishing to donate a raffle prize can contact Tania on 07941 201722.
