The Melksham Gardeners’ Society held their 12th Open Flower and Produce Show on 11th September at Melksham Assembly Hall.
“Thank you to all who entered or came,” said Barbara Cropp, chair of the society. “It was a great event, all the more special, as we have not been able to hold one for the past two years because of the pandemic.”
There were classes for fruit, vegetables, floral arrangements, crafts, baking, preserves, photography and for younger exhibitors aged three – 15 years-old.
Mayor of Melksham Simon Crundell made the presentations of the cups and medals at the end of the show.
The results were: Flower Section, David Gray. Vegetable Section, Mike Goodhew. Fruit Section, David Gray. Closed class growing Lychnis Versuvius, Peggy Lloyd.
Overall Horticultural points and thus receiving the RHS Banksian medal, Mike Goodhew. Young Exhibitors aged 3-8, Finley Walsh. Young Exhibitors aged 9-15, Grace Povey. Floral Art, Katherine Walsh. Preserves, Janey Cox. Baking, Janey Cox.

Overall Best in Show (most points accumulated in all sections), 1st Beth Dark; 2nd Janey Cox and 3rd Mike Goodhew.
