Melksham Seniors 55+ Forum report that they had a great turn out for their recent film club meeting.
Brian Warwick, chair of Melksham Seniors said, “It was great to see such a good turn out at the last film club meeting which was a tremendous success and enjoyed by all.
“A very special thanks also to Medvivo who fed and watered us well with some great refreshment and also with a most kind welcome donation towards our overheads and publicity costs.”
On Monday afternoon the 3rd of August their Activity and Sing’N’Smile afternoon at the Forest Community Centre will start at 1.30pm, (please remember community transport can also be arranged via the Tourist Information Centre (01225 707424) which is opposite the Post Office in Church Street.)
Brian said, “As we all get that bit older that does not say we don’t still want to have that extra bit of fun and enjoyment in our life. So please do come along and join us in all the fun, you will enjoy yourself in some great company.”
The seniors forum is also at the early stages of planning more events for the winter months including Christmas. They would like to hear your views on what you would like the Seniors to offer.
Go along to the next club meeting at the Assembly Hall which is on the 17th August, when they will again have their monthly film show, doors open at 1.30pm.
On the 21st September they have a special event and also a short business meeting as part of their AGM, followed by entertainment and a film. That afternoon they need to elect four new members on to the committee and also an older persons’ champion for Melksham to represent your views to the area board and participate in the new structure to improve the quality of life of older people. Without continuous new blood and support from enthusiastic members, the club say they would not be able to exist.
Unfortunately, in September they are also going to lose the services of their present treasurer Jean Harris, who is standing down in order to provide more time in assisting her daughter in their business.
Brian said, “If we have any member or friends with accountancy and IT skills who would be prepared to take on the duties of the treasurer, then please do come forward and offer your services.”
