Did Santa bring you a computer or iPad or smartphone but didn’t stay to explain how to use it? Or maybe getting online was a 2015 failed plan? Don’t despair, free computer help for beginners is available in your community.
Wiltshire Council’s ‘Wiltshire Online’ scheme started in 2012 to help people who aren’t yet online to get online and to be able to have the internet benefits so many of us now take for granted.
The scheme has volunteers (‘Digital Champions’) who are confident users of computers and give their free time to show people who want to learn the basics how to get started.
For the Melksham area they have seven digital champions at your service. They’ll teach you what you want to know at your pace. This could be at our weekly computer club in the library on Thursdays from 5.30pm or at a mutually agreed place with an internet connection.
If this sounds like the answer to your needs, don’t hesitate to apply. Please contact the Wiltshire Online office on 0300 456 0100 to ask about the next steps.
