A BOOTCAMP with a difference is to take place in Melksham with those taking part completing the session in ballgowns.
The event to be staged at Melksham Liberal Club on Saturday 26th April has been organised by a local woman, Sarah Bailey, who is raising money for Myeloma UK after her cousin was diagnosed with it.
The bootcamp which still has spaces available will see those taking part perform a 30-minute exercise class in their ballgowns – including some men who will also complete the class dressed in a ballgown! As well as the bootcamp there will also be two live singers and a comedian.
Organiser Sarah Bailey said, “It will be a great event and it has been so well supported. So many local companies have donated time and effort into this venture; from The Shurnhold Treatment Rooms who are offering mini treatments on the night, Shelly Glass who is offering mini photoshoots, as well as the numerous companies that have donated prizes for a raffle and an auction. There will be a ‘guess the money in the jar’ too where the closest under wins the jar of money. I also have prizes from PetsTown, Marjos Fashions, The Cobblers Bench, Gompels and many more.
“There are prizes for the best dressed lady doing the bootcamp as well as the best dressed gentleman (in a dress!) to be voted by the attendees on the night. The aim is to raise £2,500 which will pay for a specialist nurse for two weeks and one DNA sequencing.
“There are still some places available for the bootcamp too, so if anyone wants to join in, they can get a sponsor form and just let me know you are coming so that I can reserve your space.”
Doors open at 7.00pm on the evening for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are available for £10 from Libra hairdressers and from Jo at Fairies Wears Boots Designs. Alternatively email Sarah at horseygeorge@msn.com.
