A LOCAL pre-school is celebrating a successful Ofsted report which praised the management, care, and teaching of the staff.
Shaw and Whitley Pre-School, which provides child care for children aged up to eight, received its early years inspection report at the end of March.
The report awarded the pre-school ‘Good’ in all areas; a rating upheld since the previous inspection in 2011. The management committee said they were delighted but not surprised with the recent Ofsted report.
Committee chair Lesley Adam said, “This report reflects the benefit of having a mature and experienced staff team in a small independent setting where the individual child is key.”
The Ofsted report said, “Teaching is rooted in a good knowledge and understanding of how children learn. Staff act as good role models, and are reassuring and friendly. This helps children feel secure, and is reflected in their positive behaviour, growing confidence and independence during play.
“The partnerships formed with parents, school and partner agencies are good. Consequently, staff effectively manage children’s time at the setting and their eventual move on to school, through an inclusive, shared approach to their ongoing learning and development.
“The manager recognises the value of continuous professional development and uses self-evaluation to improve the quality of provision for all children.”
Shaw and Whitley Pre-School recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. The preschool is a small friendly setting in Shaw with links to the local primary schools in the area.
