ALOERIC Primary School is 50 years old and there is lots to celebrate!
Deputy head teacher Roz Cooper said, “We have started our school birthday celebrations by creating a video (watch by scanning the QR code). We have also begun an exciting art project to leave a lasting legacy from this year, and we are planning a special birthday celebration in the summer.
“During 2022, life has begun to return to some normality and we have enjoyed trips, visitors and family events again. Lots of children across the school have accessed Forest Schools sessions; toasting marshmallows, using tools, making dens and finding out about nature. Our older children have been on adventurous activity days and residentials. Staff and children dressed up for World Book Day as well as charity days.
“2022 brought a visit from Ofsted. Their report, which followed a two-day inspection in May, highlighted that:
– Children enjoy coming to school, they know how to keep safe (including online)
– Staff have high expectations for all children and celebrate their unique differences and skills.
– The teaching of early reading and phonics is strong.
“Our children have shown their wonderful athletic skills at sports days and football competitions. We are thrilled that our boys and girls football teams have taken part in local football tournaments. Following achieving the Silver Rights Respecting Award, we have recently achieved Silver Healthy Schools Award and the Music Mark Award.
“Before the Christmas holidays, we got into the Christmas spirit with our Christmas fair, wonderful nativities, Church service at St Michael’s and of course Christmas dinner day. Our school choir really enjoyed singing for the Lions outside of the town hall and were thrilled to meet Father Christmas there. We hope all of our staff, families and children have a happy and healthy 2023.”
