A MELKSHAM man is advising motorists to look out for cyclists after he was knocked off his bike in the town centre.
Adam Crook suffered concussion as well as wrist and shoulder injuries after he was hit by a car near to the Market Place roundabout. It is the second time he has been knocked off his bike in Melksham.
The latest incident, which also left Adam’s bike severely damaged, has led to him contacting the Melksham News in a bid to get a message of caution across to motorists.
Adam commutes from the town centre to Trowbridge for work and feels that drivers are so focussed on looking for a free parking space in the Market Place that they don’t look for cyclists. He said, “I think motorists need to be warned to look out for cyclists as I know they are focussed on looking for a parking space which means they can miss any cyclists coming.
“This happened with me and as a result I have severe concussion which has caused me many problems as well as damage to my wrists and shoulders. My initial concern when I was hit was for my bike as it is my only way of getting to where I work. Fortunately I was able to get my bike fixed, but the collision is still causing me problems.
“It has dented my confidence and means I am worried about going anywhere on my bike. I feel it is a concern for many cyclists and I urge motorists in Melksham to look out for cyclists.
