DOG fosterer Lisa White, is fundraising to help pay for the treatment of a disabled dog she is taking care of.
The 18-month old dog, called Luna, was found in Romania over 8 weeks ago, ‘paralysed’ in both her back legs due to ‘blunt force trauma’. After treatment in Romania, Luna was flown to Bristol and taken into care by Happily Ever After Dog Rescue, the charity that Bowerhill resident Lisa fosters for.
After successfully raising enough money to help pay for vet and physiotherapy appointments, nappies, ‘doggy shoes’, harnesses and a wheelchair, Lisa is now trying to raise up to £5,000 to pay for Luna to see a neurologist.
Luna has received over three weeks of physio treatment and has shown signs of regaining strength in her back legs, to the point where she has surprised Lisa by standing on all four of her legs.
Lisa is hopeful that further tests carried out by a neurologist could prove that Luna’s ‘paralysis’ is operable.
Lisa said, “On assessments from both Luna’s vet and physiotherapist, it is extremely apparent that little Luna has feeling in both of her legs, from a neurological point of view this actually means that there could be a chance of little Luna’s legs working again, which would be totally amazing.
“However, a referral for Luna to see a neurologist is going to cost us between £2,000 and £5,000 and that’s just for the referral.
“I have no idea how we could ever raise such a huge amount of money, but I’d like to try! I want to give little Luna any and every opportunity I can, she’s a fighter, she has a zest for life and I promised her I would do everything I could to help her.
“We’ve got this far, I’m determined to keep going, she’s just a baby at 18 months old, if we can raise enough money to pay for a referral for her, we’ll know for definite if her paralysis is operable. I really need to give little Luna this chance, can you please help me to make it happen? Thank you in advance to all of you.”
