This month we welcome back three artists who have exhibited at the gallery in recent years.
Jenny Cox has been painting on and off for the last twenty years and this was a natural progression from an avid interest in photographing nature. She attended Sue Burns’ Art School at Stowford for a couple of years, but now mainly paints at her own kitchen table. Like many artists, she is inspired by nature which she says also enhances her mental well-being.
John Hughes retired from a career in architecture and always enjoyed sketching and drawing, but not painting. Then about six years ago he tried using watercolour but found it an unforgiving medium. He then obtained library books and taught himself oil painting. Now he says he can’t wait every day to pick up a paint brush.
Jean Perrett admits to being guilty of painting obsessively. She was inspired by Peter Dolbear at a local workshop in 2012 and continues to explore all media and subjects since. She has exhibited at the Oriel Gallery in the National Botanical Gardens of Wales among others and has twice had her work published in the National Trust Magazine. She is happy to undertake local commissions and do demonstrations.
More information about the artists is on display with their striking and varied work in the Art House Cafe until 5th August.
