A LOCAL girl has become Melksham’s first junior park runner to reach the milestone of 100 junior parkruns.
Betsey Park who is eight years old was awarded a grey wrist band on Sunday 12th March, to signify her achievement.
Parkrun volunteer Sue Mortimer said, “She was delighted when she was awarded her grey wrist band. Well-done Betsey.”
The junior parkrun award colourful wristbands and certificates to participants who reach the following milestones by running, walking or jogging the weekly junior park run: 11 junior parkruns – half marathon – blue wristband; 21 junior parkruns – marathon – green wristband; 50 junior parkruns – ultra marathon – green wristband; 100 junior parkruns – grey wristband; 250 junior parkruns – yellow wristband.
The Melksham junior parkrun is a free fun event for children aged four to 14 years old that takes place every Sunday in Melksham King George V playing field at 9am.
Sue said, “Parents can join their children on their 2k run if they so wish. All are welcome. Registration online is needed only once. 8:45am is first timers briefing, 8:50am is the warm up ready for a 9am start.”
