KINGSTONS Estate Agents have purchased a communal staff bike to reduce their carbon footprint and get to appointments quicker around the town.
They say they are using the bike for up to 90% of their appointments and are looking to purchase a second one.
Alistair Saunders, lettings director at Kingstons said, ‘It’s so much quicker around the town! It has been so well used that we are thinking of purchasing another one in the next few weeks.
“We currently have a property at Roundponds, by the train station, and by car with the traffic it usually takes us around 10 minutes, but on the bike it takes us just four minutes!
“Not only does it help the environment, as we leave our cars in the car park, it’s quicker than manoeuvrering around the traffic in the town centre and it helps staff to get out of the office in the fresh air too.
“It’s also going to help us a lot when the bridge is closed. Plus, you don’t have to continually find a parking space.
“It’s not going to save the planet, but Kingstons are making the small changes that we can in order to be more environmentally friendly. It’s benefitting the business too as it’s not wasting our time sat in traffic and we are able to get to appointments quicker.
“Plus, it’ll be nicer when the weather gets better!”
Joe Hayden at Kingstons added, “I have a large litre car, and each week I was filling it up with petrol in order to make my appointments. Now, a full tank has lasted me two weeks, so it shows just how much less I am using my car now we have the bike.”
