RESIDENTS of all ages embraced their mind, body and spirit last Sunday as around 100 people attended the town’s first Park Yoga session in King George V Park.
The outdoor session took place on Sunday 5th May and was the first weekly session organised by the town council as part of the Park Yoga scheme, which brings yoga sessions to people of all ages and abilities in parks across the country.
Instructor Hannah Blueitt said, “We had a wonderful hour of yoga for our first Park Yoga session. There were between 90-100 attendees! It was so lovely to see some familiar faces there, but also lots of new people both to yoga and Park Yoga. It was a joy guiding everyone and I can’t wait to meet even more people.”
Local resident Lisa Cole said, “It’s something that is a reason to get up and out on a Sunday morning and it’s brilliant that it is put on for free. A bit of stretching and breathing is always good for the soul.”
Park Yoga will run every Sunday from 9.30 to 10.30am every Sunday at King George V Park until 15th September. Entry is free and it is open to all ages and abilities. There is no need to book, but participants are encouraged bring a mat, towel or blanket, and some water.
