LOCAL Guide leader for 5th Melksham Guides and 1st Melksham Rangers, Rachel Weeks, has been recognised for her dedication to Girl Guiding.
Rachel was awarded a Girl Guiding Compass award from the Guiding South West Region in September at a presentation ceremony held at the White Hart Hotel in Salisbury.
A spokesperson said, “This award is presented to recognise the dedication of the members at local level who give freely of their time on a regular basis, which Rachel has done for over 20 years.
“The citation for her award talked about her inclusivity towards the Guides in her care, giving all of the girls many activities, stimulating their life experiences and encouraging them to continue their Guiding journey.
“The Girl Guiding movement builds girls’ confidence and raises their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good.
“We give them a space to have fun. We run Rainbows (5–7 years), Brownies (7–10 years), Guides (10–14 years) and Rangers (14–18 years).
“Rachel encourages all girls to join the Guiding movement and they can register their interest at girlguidiung.org.uk, then click on ‘Join Us’.”
