MELKSHAM groups are to benefit after a cheque was donated to the Alzheimers Support charity.
A total of £1,720 was handed over by the Wessex Model & Toy Collectors to the charity at a presentation held at the King’s Arms, Melksham.
The group had decided on Alzheimers Support as their chosen charity for 2014 and thanks to their annual charity auction and other events, the amount reached £1,720. The money raised will go towards the running of the Alzheimers Cafe Melksham held at The Art House Cafe at 3.45pm on the third Monday of each month and also to the Movement for the Mind classes, Bowerhill Village Hall, at 10.30am-12noon on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.
The cheque was presented to Wendy Clayton, a memory awareness volunteer) by Wessex Model & Toy Collectors member Steve Clements, who raised £500 by doing a sponsored walk.
Wendy said, “A big thank you goes to all Wessex Model & Toy Collectors members.”
Since 1989, the model and toy collectors group has raised over £71,000 for local charities.
