Melksham author Ted Tayler now has over 20 titles listed on Amazon.
In March last year he had a significant breakthrough when he secured a featured deal in the USA with the book site BookBub. Over 20,000 copies of the first book in The Phoenix Series were downloaded in 24 hours and follow-on sales encouraged him to start writing a new series for readers to enjoy.
“Things have moved on since then,” says Ted, “if you dig back far enough in my literary output, you’ll uncover a book of memories that started this whole writing craze. (We’d Like To Do A Number Now 2011). We never made it big in the music world and would have given anything for a Christmas #1 in the UK.
“Everything comes to he who waits. I secured a worldwide BookBub featured deal for the 23rd/24th December and the box set of books 1-3 in The Phoenix Series held the #1 spot in free kindles on December 25th across the whole UK Amazon store (plus half a dozen genres within the thriller category). In the US store it peaked at #3, but I’m not complaining! With 36,000 copies downloaded around the world, there were a lot of people tucking into The Phoenix as well as their Christmas dinners and New Year tipples!
“The increased exposure something like that offers is immeasurable. Safe to say, my decision to launch the new Freeman Files series in mid-December didn’t backfire. Sales are steady on #1 ‘Fatal Decision’ and #2 ‘Last Orders’ will be published on the 17th January. Gus Freeman is a retired detective persuaded to head up a small crime review team taking a fresh look at cold cases which have baffled detectives in the past. He’s scheduled for six cases at present. If this series builds up a head of steam like the first one, then who knows? 2019 was a game-changer for The Phoenix and 2020 promises to be exciting for Gus Freeman too.”
