West Wiltshire Crematorium at Semington was announced as ‘Best Crematorium’ in the country by the Association of Green Funeral Directors, at their annual Good Funeral Awards Dinner on the 19th October.
The crematorium, operated by The Westerleigh Group, has served the communities of Trowbridge, Melksham, Chippenham, Devizes, Corsham, Bradford on Avon and the surrounding villages for 23 years. Since it opened 1996 it has carried out over 39,000 funeral services.
The Association of Green Funeral Directors asked for nominations from all across the country, for 12 award categories, and West Wiltshire Crematorium was proposed and supported by local celebrants for the Best Crematorium Award. The association believes that excellent service within the funeral profession deserves to be recognised. Also, that working within the funeral industry is a profession that is not “just a job”, but a vocation in which many individuals and companies go above and beyond. After close scrutiny, they choose West Wiltshire Crematorium above the other finalist, Pure Cremation.
Crematorium manager Shaun Chapman-Young says, “I feel extremely honoured that West Wiltshire Crematorium has received this award, which is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the people who work here. We truly care that every service goes smoothly, that mourners feel that they have given their loved one a fitting send off, and that our buildings and memorial gardens are well looked after. I am so pleased that our efforts have been rewarded in this way.”
On the night, two awards came home to the South West – another local business, Go-Simply Funerals Ltd. was a proud winner in the ‘Green Funeral Director of The Year’ category, for their exemplary work in providing quality, affordable green funerals.
West Wiltshire Crematorium held an open day in June, which was well attended, but if you are curious to know more you can arrange to look around at any time. Simply call Shaun Chapman-Young on 01380 871101 to arrange an informal visit
