SOME of Melksham’s community groups and organisations have been awarded major grants from the town council to support them in their work.
The grants were awarded as part of the town council’s finance, administration and performance committee meeting on Monday 11th March.
The objective of Melksham Town Council’s grants’ scheme is to support and encourage a diverse range of community and youth activities, initiatives and events that meet the needs of the residents of Melksham.
4Youth received £10,000; Melksham Christmas Light Group was awarded £10,000; Age UK Wiltshire was awarded £8,524 and it was also unanimously resolved to give the charity the remaining funds in the grant pot which could be up to another £1,500.
Food and River Festival received £5,000; Melksham Tourist Information Centre was awarded £4,000; Melksham Carnival were awarded £1,500; Celebrating Age Wiltshire received £1,000; Trauma Breakthrough was awarded £1,000; Back on Track – Stroke Rehab Service received £1,000; British Cactus and Succulent Society Wiltshire Branch received £544.40; Wiltshire Sight received £500.
