MELKSHAM charity, Evie’s Gift, raised over £560 by hosting a ‘Lockdown Street Fayre’ last month on Facebook
Founder of the charity, Bryan Clover said, “The event proved to be really successful. We were really pleased with the event that realised over £560 for the charity and we are already thinking about running another one later in the year. “
Whilst raising money for the charity by selling items that had been donated, the online event also provided an opportunity for local Melksham retailers to promote their businesses.
Bryan said, “We wanted to get local traders involved too and we hope that they had as successful an event as we did. Although we didn’t ask for donations from the traders, some of them very kindly donated a percentage of their takings.
“Evie’s Gift sold a wide and varied range of products from wine glasses to DIY equipment. The stock sold to people from all over the country which was great.
“Importantly for us, it was important to support Melksham businesses too, because charity is a two-way street, and we wanted to give something back to them.
“The charity is still busy with application forms from families in hospital, the latest being a very premature baby in Bristol.”
Bryan and Patsy Clover set up the charity in memory of their 13-year-old daughter, Evie, who died from an aggressive brain tumour in 2018.
Evie’s Gift has two main aims: to give immediate financial assistance to parents whose children have been admitted to hospital with a life threatening or life limiting condition, and to fund research into the rare brain cancer.
